Write Now winners announced!

The winners of the Write Now! Awards were announced last night by the Mayor of Maitland, Loretta Baker, at East Maitland Library.

Judges were pleased to receive 98 entries from students across the Maitland local government area this year, including 21 different schools and home schools.

The theme I woke up in the library gave entrants a gateway into the realms of books and their possibilities. The entrants imagined the library to be a place where books came alive, where the books were breathing and familiar characters from books transformed into flesh and blood reality. There was a sense of the library as a treasure trove, where valuable items such as plans and maps, might show us a way of escape or adventure.
