Jane Caro grew up in Australia in the 1960s and 1970s – the heyday of second-wave feminism. In her book, Accidental Feminists, she tells the story of the everyday women of her era, a generation of women who revolutionised the world.
Jane says that although they rarely identified as feminists and didn’t intend to change to world, they were the first in history to be in paid work for most of their lives and have financial independence.
Jane Caro is an author, novelist, broadcaster, columnist, advertising writer and social commentator. She appears regularly in the media commentating on feminism and education and was the recipient of the Walkley Award for Women’s Leadership in 2018.
