Community recycling stations
Community recycling stations are now available at all library locations. Disposal is free with accepted items including small quantities of problem wastes such as alkali batteries, smoke detectors, printer cartridges, fluoro globes and small e-waste.
Social Stories
Social Stories are step-by-step guides to help individuals familiarise themselves with our libraries before their first visit. They provide short descriptions and visual aids aiming to reduce anxiety and make your library experience as smooth and enjoyable as possible.
We are creating a collection of Social Stories, with our first one available for the Toy Library, located at East Maitland Library.
Community Noticeboard
Maitland Libraries provide small noticeboards for community information. Priority is given to essential updates from the Library, Maitland City Council and government agencies.
We accept single A4-sized (or smaller) flyers and posters that promote local events, activities, or meetings benefiting the community. Submissions must come from community groups, not-for-profits, or government services and must include the name and contact details of the responsible group or individual.
We do not display petitions, commercial advertising, political content, or anything illegal, defamatory, obscene, or offensive.
To submit materials, email or visit a branch. Space is limited, and items may be removed at staff discretion. The library is not responsible for the loss, defacement, or return of materials.
